DAY 1
Matchday 1 Group A (Men’s): 9:15 – BRAZIL 33 – 13 INDIA
Comfortable match for Brazil, which set a very high pace from the start and was already winning 10-0 by the 10th minute. After the time-out, India reacted, calmed down, and started to play, gradually getting into the match. Brazil always maintained the lead on the scoreboard and was able to rotate all its players. A match with a lot of physical contact that makes us foresee that Brazil is aiming for everything.
Matchday 1 Group B (Men’s): 11:30 – CZECHIA 55 – 18 CHILE
A very comfortable match for Czechia, which won with ease. From the start, the Czechia set the pace and quickly gained a considerable lead, allowing them to play very calmly. However, the vast majority of goals were scored on the counterattack. Their defensive physical superiority caused Chile to falter, allowing the Czechia to run. The Czechia emerges as another strong contender, a complete and balanced team.
Matchday 1 Group A (Women’s): 13:45 – SPAIN 63 – 11 INDIA
A very comfortable match for Spain, which played in an exemplary manner from start to finish. They were much superior in attack, but especially in defense, where they built their victory by stealing balls to launch counterattacks and gradually extend their lead. In the first half, India’s player No. 15 showed she had a good long-range shot, bringing joy to the stands. In the second half of the first period and the second half, Spain did not want to run much and preferred to attack in a positional play, aiming to improve their procedures for future matches. In summary, a very uneven match.
Matchday 1 Group B (Women’s): 17:00 – CZECHIA 31 – 30 NETHERLANDS
The most equal match of the Championship so far has been decided by small details in favor of the Czechia. They always led on the scoreboard, and the Netherlands had an off day in front of the goal, with many shots hitting the posts and missed opportunities in clear counterattacks or one-on-one situations that they failed to convert into goals. The standout player for the Czechia was number 11, while number 17 stood out for the Netherlands. Two teams that will be talked about throughout the Championship.
Matchday 1 Group B (Women’s): 19:30 – POLAND 28 – 21 CHILE
A very entertaining match to end day 1 of the Championship. Chile and Poland played a neck-and-neck game, where Poland prevailed due to their superior bench and resources. Chile played a very complete match but reached the final part of the game without enough energy, and Poland relied on their bench and managed to prevail in the key moments. Chile will be a team to watch in the tournament, and Poland joins the list of strong contenders.
